About Your 2026 Hyundai Sonata
Hyundai is the fastest-growing volume brand in our shop. Sonata, Elantra, Tucson, Santa Fe, and Palisade are all common in Jacksonville, and Hyundai's modern smart-key platform (shared with Kia and Genesis) is well aftermarket-supported. The 2010s saw Hyundai become a serious anti-theft target — particularly the basic transponder Elantra and Sonata of that era — and the brand responded with a 2023 software update that added an extra security layer to legacy models. Newer Hyundais (2022+) use the latest revision of the smart-key platform with NFC support on Genesis and select Hyundai trims. The most useful thing to know about Hyundai keys: bring the title or registration to all-keys-lost jobs — Hyundai's security session requires VIN-level proof of ownership and we cannot complete the programming without it.
Sonata has used Smart Key as standard since the 8th-generation (2020+). Earlier 7th-gen (2015–2019) had Smart Key only on Limited and Sport trims. We carry both fob platforms.
2018-and-newer Hyundais (8th-gen Sonata, 7th-gen Elantra, 4th-gen Tucson, 4th-gen Santa Fe, Palisade) use Smart Key as standard and the latest revision of the immobilizer. Programming is fast and reliable on-site.
Common issues we see
The well-publicized 2011–2021 Hyundai/Kia theft trend affected models without immobilizers. If your Hyundai is in this range and was stolen or attempted, we install factory-equivalent security upgrade keys that resolve the vulnerability.
Sedans are the bulk of our daily key work — they live in the driveway, get used every day, and tend to need spare keys before SUVs and trucks because they're stolen more often when an extra key is missing.
Immobilizer (Hyundai Immobilizer): Hyundai-Kia's modern immobilizer with smart key entry is well aftermarket-supported. The 2023+ refresh added an extra security layer in response to the well-publicized theft trend.
In Jacksonville
We service Hyundai Sonata owners across all of Duval County — Jacksonville, Mandarin, Riverside, Southside, and the Beaches. Average response time across the metro is 20–30 minutes.
Why book us for your Hyundai Sonata

Frequently asked questions
Is my Hyundai affected by the theft trend?+
Most 2011–2021 Hyundai models with a turn-key ignition (no push-button start) were affected. If your car has push-button start, it has the immobilizer and is not affected.
How much does a Hyundai smart key cost?+
Smart key spare starts at $149 cut and programmed on-site. All-keys-lost starts at $199.
Can you do all-keys-lost on a Hyundai with the security upgrade?+
Yes. We program both pre- and post-upgrade Hyundais on-site. The security upgrade does not block aftermarket programming — it just makes the immobilizer mandatory.
