About Your 2026 Chevrolet Camaro
Chevrolet is GM's mainstream brand and our highest-volume GM service. Silverado, Equinox, Tahoe, Suburban, and Malibu cover most of our Chevy work. GM's immobilizer family — Passlock, then PK3, then PK3+ — has been on Chevys since 1997, and the modern PK3+ system is one of the easier mainstream platforms to program. The 2016+ generation introduced Keyless Open / Keyless Start (KOS) on Silverado and Tahoe, which added the proximity smart fob to the Chevy lineup. The most useful thing to know about modern Chevys: the 'smart key' fob and the 'remote head' transponder key are not interchangeable — and a lot of owners try to replace one with the other. We always confirm the exact part number before ordering.
6th-generation Camaro (2016–2024) uses Keyless Open & Start with a Camaro-specific fob shell. Programming is the same as Silverado but the shell is unique. SS, ZL1, and 1LE all use the same fob.
2016+ Silverado / Tahoe / Suburban brought Keyless Open & Start with the proximity smart fob. 2019+ Silverado uses an updated security session that takes a few extra minutes.
Common issues we see
Two recurring Chevy patterns: (1) Silverado / Tahoe ignition cylinders wearing out — we diagnose key vs ignition on-site; (2) the rubber backing on Equinox and Malibu remote heads peeling at the seam, which we shell-swap during a spare-key visit.
Sports cars often have unique fob shells specific to the trim level (SS, ZL1, GT350, R/T). The underlying transponder is usually shared with the base model but the case is not — we always confirm the exact part number.
Immobilizer (GM PK3+): GM's PK3+ has been refined since 2007 and is one of the easier mainstream platforms to program. Aftermarket coverage spans every Chevy, GMC, Buick, and Cadillac of the era.

Frequently asked questions
How much does a Chevrolet Silverado key cost?+
Silverado spare keys start at $149 for the basic remote head transponder and $179 for the Keyless Open smart fob. All-keys-lost starts at $199 / $229. Significantly less than the Chevy dealer.
Can you program a Chevy Tahoe smart key on-site?+
Yes. We program every modern Tahoe, Suburban, and Silverado smart key on-site at your home or work in Jacksonville — typical visit is 35–45 minutes.
Do GM keys work across brands?+
The transponder family is shared but the FCC IDs and shell shapes are brand-specific. A Tahoe fob is not the same as a Yukon fob even though the underlying chip is identical.
