Audi is part of the Volkswagen Group and shares the MQB-platform immobilizer (IMMO5) with VW, Skoda, and SEAT. The KESSY proximity smart key has been on Audi since 2006 and is now standard across most trims. Audi's modern key system is one of the most secure mainstream platforms in the industry — programming requires advanced equipment but we support the full lineup on-site. The most useful thing to know about Audi keys: pre-2006 Audis use IMMO3 or IMMO4, which are well aftermarket-supported and cheap to program; 2006–2014 Audis use IMMO5, which is moderately complex; and 2015+ Audis use the MQB-Evo platform, which is the trickiest VW Group programming we do.

Pre-2010

Pre-2010 Audis (B7 A4, C6 A6, D3 A8) use IMMO3 or IMMO4 with KESSY on premium trims. Cheap and fast to replace.

2010 – 2017

2010–2014 Audis (B8 A4, C7 A6, D4 A8, original Q5) use IMMO5. Programming is reliable but takes longer than the classic era.

2018 – Now

2015-and-newer Audis (B9 A4, C8 A6, D5 A8, Q5 II, Q7 II, Q8, e-tron) use the MQB or MQB-Evo platform with the latest IMMO5 revision. We support the full lineup on-site.

Audi key FAQ

Can you program an MQB Audi key without the dealer?+

How much does an Audi key cost vs the dealer?+

Audi spare keys run $295–$495 on-site depending on model. Compare to Audi dealer quotes of $600–$1,400 plus a 1–2 week wait.
